    Security is what underpins your business from the moment you open your doors to when you close your doors, and when you are at home. Crime is always on the rise because the crime industry has ever increasing potential for easy pickings.   • The Human Factor – How to Use Your Security Procedures Effectively

    Your security procedure needs may have been identified and current procedures have been updated or have been assessed and deemed to be excellent and relevant. Alternatively, you may have a new set of security procedures fresh out of the box and ready to go. What do you do now?
    To use these procedures effectively, ALL staff on site must know the important basics of the procedures and where to find them, either in hard copy or securely online, and with confidence know how to implement them. Staff need to re-familiarise themselves with existing procedures every quarter and this should also be officially recorded. When new procedures and equipment are introduced, staff and especially newly hired staff, should be updated and trained as soon as possible. I cannot stress this strongly enough.

    There is really no point in having security procedures and/or equipment unless all staff are on board and they are confident in knowing how to handle and use them. There are some businesses which do have excellent guidelines, but, they are not used. And so it will only be a matter of time before such companies will experience a breach of security. (more…)
