Where are the International Leaders of Retail?

  • london-eye2Last week CBRE released a survey entitled “How Global is the Business of Retail”. It ranked the cities around the world that had the most international retail stores.

The list threw up some surprises. This is the ranking according to the survey:

    • London         60%
    • Paris             49%
    • New York    47%
    • Dubai           45%
    • Madrid        44%
    • Moscow      42%
    • Berlin           40%
    • Munich         39%
    • Barcelona    39%
    • Tokyo               38%
    • Singapore   38%
    • Hong Kong  38%
    • Hamburg    38%
    • Milan         37%
    • Beijing     36%

It is surprising to see Dubai M oscow and Beijing in the list rather than Chicago and Los Angeles. For the Aussies, Melbourne you would think is the shopping city. You would be wrong, Sydney scored 23% while Melbourne scored 21.4% followed by Brisbane at 13.2%.

Across the Tasman, Auckland scored 12.8% and Wellington 8.2%.
